What is Seamoss?
Seamoss, is one of the most powerful marine superfood. It contains 92 of the 102 mineral nutrients that our body requires daily and 15 of the 18 essential elements that makes up the human body. Apart from its powerful anti-inflammatory effects, this algae is packed with Protein, Fiber, Selenium, Iodine, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorus, and Zinc. It also contains omega 3 fatty acids, iodine, potassium chloride, antiviral and antimicrobial compounds. What are the benefits?

     

      • Boosting Immune System  Previous studies have shown sea moss to boost the immune system and possibly prevent the human body from contracting salmonella.One very early study revealed that sea moss could prevent the growth of S.Enteritidis – this bacteria causes salmonella in humans. However, this study has not since been reproduced in humans or animals.
      • Gut Health – Sea moss supports a healthy gut flora because they are a good source of fiber and bacteria.
        • Weight Loss – Sea moss is a fiber-rich food, which expands in your stomach and helps you feel fuller for longer, thus prevents overeating.
          • Preventing Parkinson’s Disease – Parkinson’s is a degenerative illness that mainly affects older adults; it causes stiffness, tremors and restricts mobility. One study conducted on worms revealed that sea moss extract decreased alpha-synuclein build-up, reduced slowness of movement, and stiffness. The results could mean good news for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, although more research is needed to find out if sea moss works as well on people as it dones on worms. 
            • Improving Fertility – Many men from the Carribean use sea moss as a natural sexual enhancer, as it could boost testosterone levels and sperm count. For women, the nutrients in sea moss, such as iodine, calcium, B vitamins, and zinc, make it a powerful fertility enhancer that can increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Scientists need to investigate this further.
            • Promotes Healthy Skin –  Sea Moss is rich in antioxidants, and is an antibacterial, which helps protect the skin from damage and bacteria while promoting collagen production. Using sea moss as a face mask can help alleviate acne, scars, hyperpigmentation and moisturize your skin.

            How long does it last?

            Our Sea Moss gel is 100% natural no additives or preservatives and has a shelf life of 3 weeks refrigerated

            Dried Sea Moss has a shelf life of approximately one year when stored in a cool, dry and dark space. Sea Moss Gel should be made or purchased in small batches, as it is best when used within three weeks. It must be kept sealed and refrigerated. Please also use care to avoid cross contamination.

            Please note: Sea Moss Gel has been known to vary in spoilage and is not intended to be stored but rather to be consumed. Signs of spoilage include an odd pungent aroma or taste, slimy coating on top layer and/or mold. 

            Can You Freeze Sea Moss?
            Yes, freezing your Sea Moss Gel can dramatically extended the shelf life from 3 weeks to 3 months. If you have a lot of Sea Moss Gel and are worried about it going bad, we recommend scooping it into ice cube trays and freezing it. Sea Moss ice cubes are so convenient and easy to add to your smoothies, soups or porridge. You can even rub them on your face in the mornings to help reduce puffiness, shrink pores and brighten your skin.

            We source our Sea Moss ourselves from the tropical spice isle of Grenada, our local divers hand pick our Sea Moss responsibly to preserve the ecosystem.

            How does it taste?

            Sea Moss is tasteless which also makes our gel tasteless making it easy to be added to nearly anything. However,  Purple Sea Moss may have a slight bit of a taste to it due to and a stronger smell in its raw form. 

            What are some minerals that Sea Moss contains?

            The minerals that Sea Moss contains for optimal functioning in the human body are Zinc, Iodine, Iron, Calcium, Potassium, B Complex Vitamins, Sodium, Sulphur and Silicon. It is a great source of dietary fiber, Vitamin K, Copper, Riboflavin, Folate. Magnesium, Phosphorus, Manganese, protein, Beta Carotene, B Vitamins, Pectin, Taurine (an amino acid usually lacking in vegan and vegetarian diets) and Vitamin C all essential nutrients that promote healthy body functions.

            What are the benefits of Anthocyanin (found in Purple Sea Moss)?
            Anthocyanins are a type of flavonoid, a class of compounds with antioxidant effects. Found naturally in a number of foods, anthocyanins are the pigments that give red, purple, and blue plants their rich coloring. In addition to acting as antioxidants and fighting free radicals, anthocyanins may offer anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-cancer benefits.
            What are the Differences Between the Different Colors of Sea Moss?

            Sea Moss is a nutrient dense algae that holds 90% of minerals and vitamins that your body needs for proper function. It is firm in texture and ranges in color. While all Sea Moss carries the same beneficial qualities and can be used in the same ways, certain colors contain Phytonutrients which offer additional benefits that are unique to them.

            Gold Sea Moss is the most commonly used and the only color that is sun-dried. It offers all the benefits of Sea Moss that we’ve come to know and love. But, it has very minimal smell and taste compared to the other colors.



            Purple Sea Moss contains powerful antioxidants called Anthocyanins, which are commonly found in blue and purple fruits or vegetables. Anthocyanins are linked to health benefits such as stronger bones, a healthier heart, lower inflammation and protection against certain types of cancers. Purple Sea Moss is more rare to find and dried in a dark room to avoid losing it’s unique color and benefits.



            Green Sea Moss is high in Chlorophyll, which is widely known as the “life force” of plants and is what gives plants their natural green color. Chlorophyll is an all natural body deodorizer and detoxifier. It is also great for healing the skin and reducing bacterial growth in wounds. Green Sea Moss is more rare to find and dried in a dark room to avoid losing it’s unique color and benefits.
